Zoological Projects

Akron Zoological Park: Thomas & Marker recently received word that they had been selected to manage the work on Akron Zoo's Carousel, Farmlands, Maintenance/Receiving and Treetops projects. Work slated to begin on the Conservation Carousel this March.

Columbus Zoo & Aquarium: Everything is on schedule for the Zoo’s new $20 million polar bear exhibit. The exhibit, which will also feature arctic fox and brown bear, is slated for a Spring 2010 opening. The project includes a new concessions building and the Celebration of Giving Plaza. Thomas & Marker has completed all of the Zoo’s major exhibits since first partnering in 1998 on the pachyderm exhibit. Thomas & Marker recently wrapped up work on the Zoo's Animal Encounters Village - an interactive area for visitors and "residents".

Boonshoft Museum Of Discovery: Design work on the renovation of the animal exhibit area of this popular Dayton museum/science center is nearing completion with construction expected to begin in March 2010. The goal is to have a more attractive area that not only achieves an entertaining and educational visitor experience but also AZA (Associated of Zoos and Aquariums) accreditation.

Update on University Projects

Renovation work on Wittenberg University's historic Blair Hall is scheduled for completion in June 2010. The renovation on Heidelberg University's historic Adams Hall is scheduled for completion in August 2010. Thomas & Marker was recently selected for Bluffton University's Burcky Gymnasium Locker Room renovation project.

Civil and Public Projects

Thomas & Marker recently completed work on the City of Bexley's Police Headquarters which is set for LEED Silver Certification and on the City of Upper Arlington's Fire Station #72 and Sunny 95 Park. The company is in the construction phase of the City of Columbus' new Vehicle Impound Facility.

Healthcare Projects

Thomas & Marker is currently in the construction phase on The Ohio State University's new 33,000 square foot medical center project in Lewis Center. The company recently completed work on a new physical therapy addition for HCR ManorCare's Chillicothe location and is in the construction phase of the same type project for their location in Westerville.

Special Projects and Industrial Work

Thomas & Marker is currently working on projects at both Honda Transmission Mfg. and their Research and Development facility and recently completed a project at the East Liberty Plant. Other special projects include projects for Parker Hannifin, Logan County Department of Health, Chase Bank debit machines at 15 locations, and a Bexley hair salon and oxygen bar.

Religious Projects

Thomas & Marker is Construction Manager for the DeGraff United Methodist Church which is currently in the schematic drawing phase. Work was recently completed on the Church of Christ in Upper Arlington.

Associates Receive LEED AP Designation

Kirk Marker and Brett Pequignot, both Project Managers for Thomas & Marker, recently achieved status as LEED Accredited Professionals (AP). This accreditation is through the United States Green Building Council and anyone wanting to become certified must pass an examination that covers "green" building and design practices, materials and initiatives.
